The new Downtown Court Tower is the new iconic symbol of Maricopa County’s growing court system. Partnering with the City of Phoenix, the project allowed for the closure of Madison Avenue between 1st and 3rd Avenues to create a new pedestrian only mall through the core of the County’s larger judicial campus. The mall is envisioned as a future component of a larger master plan that includes a plaza expansion north to Jackson Street. Site walls constructed of recycled concrete from the previous site provide thresholds at either end of the new mall, while water harvesting gardens and plentiful seating provide comfortable gathering spaces among a vibrant native landscape.
