Private Tempe Residence

An incredible grove of Mesquite trees shade this picturesque backyard. The owners wanted to make the most of the Arizona weather and use their outdoor spaces throughout the year. A number of intimate spaces were created of varying scale to accommodate a flexible number of social engagements. They removed a pool that was no longer being used, that opened up a larger gathering space, while the Trex decking material was repurposed into a screen trellis that helped break-up the backyard into smaller spaces. A water feature was added against a colored accent wall to anchor the backyard while providing a respite of sound and calm. Accent and succulents provide a texture of planting with a low maintenance sensibility.
