Designed by Will Bruder and built by Bill and Carol Byrne in 1997, the homes new owners seek to preserve the original character of this important architectural achievement. The landscape had become over grown with non-native invasive species and returning the site to a genuinely honest native landscape with some minor interventions at key moments was the primary focus. A slot canyon between two major walls of the home allowed for a unique micro-climate opportunity, including a refined stair constructed of steel plate and decomposed granite. The end result is a project that returns this home to its original intent by embracing the natural beauty of its surroundings.
